Lebanese side beats Japanese team for second win in as many matches

LEBANON’s Zahraa Al Minaa took two hours and three minutes to defeat Japan Otia Miyoshi Weisse Adler, 25-22, 28-30, 23-25, 25-23, 15-6, on Thursday in the Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Furtado Bruno erupted with 29 points, including 26 spikes, for Lebanon, while Arthur Al Zayek and Jhonlenn Baretto added 14 as Lebanon moved to the top of Pool B with a 2-0 win-loss card.

Despite giving away 41 points to its opponents through errors, Lebanon had a more solid defense as it had 12 blocks to Japan’s four.

Egyptian reinforcement Mohamed Khattab finished with 21 markers, while Yuki Hosokawa chipped in 16 for Japan, which remained winless in two games.

Zahraa Al Minaa earlier beat Duc Long Gia Lai of Vietnam, while Japan lost its opening match to defending champion Matin Varamin of Iran.
