Lady Thunder, PWU Patriots stay unscathed

RIZAL Technological University and Philippine Women's University remained unbeaten in three matches to share the lead in the 44th WNCAA senior volleyball tournament.

RTU overpowered Miriam College, 25-18, 25-17, 25-11, while PWU was dragged by San Beda College Alabang to the full route before pulling off a 21-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-18, 15-10 at the RTU gym on Sunday.

Defending champion CEU was in third with a 2-0 card after a 25-21, 25-13, 25-11 win over host University of Asia and the Pacific.

La Consolacion College Manila finally bagged its first victory after three tries, besting Assumption College, 25-23, 25-14, 25-21.

In the Juniors A Division, St. Scholastica’s College defeated St. Jude Catholic School, 25-16, 20-25, 25-19, 25-12, to gain a share of the lead with idle La Salle College Antipolo at 2-0.

San Beda improved to 2-0 in Junior B with a 25-15, 25-13, 25-16 victory over Poveda.

De La Salle Zobel, San Beda and Miriam are in a triple-tie for the top spot in the midgets division with 2-0 records.

In the basketball tournament, defending champion Centro Escolar University, PWU and St. Scholastica's College are on top with 3-0 slates.

PWU whipped La Consolacion, 74-39, with Richelyn Badajos scoring a game-high 15 points at the Chiang Kai Shek gym.

Aiyani Mat'hana exploded with 30 points to power St. Scholastica’s College to a 64-51 win over UA&P.

CEU whipped San Beda, 76-30.

Rica Francisco topscored for RTU with 16 points as it clobbered Assumption, 70-32, to join La Consolacion in fourth spot at 1-1.
