DESPITE a heartbreaking loss, a La Salle official said an ‘upbeat’ atmosphere prevailed inside the Lady Spikers' locker room after a 25-18, 28-26, 17-25, 16-25, 11-15 loss to Ateneo in Game Two of the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball finals on Wednesday.

Unlike in their semis loss to Far Eastern University where they took more than an hour holed up inside the dugout, the team spent roughly 30-45 minutes before heading out of the Mall of Asia Arena.

None of the coaching staff and the players spoke to the media as they were prohibited by team management from granting interviews.

La Salle athletic director Nongnong Calanog, though, shared that the players were in high spirits.

“Surprisingly they’re upbeat,” said Calanog. “Kasi noong nag-uusap lahat kanina parang they don’t want to parang put this one year of hard work down the drain.”

“So ang ano (mood) nila? There’s nothing you can do but you know go back and play, see where we lack and then make sure that we don’t do that again next game,” he added.

From the dugout, the Lady Spikers went straight to the team bus. But before boarding, they greeted and waved to their adoring fans who came out to cheer for them outside the arena.
