EVEN the La Salle Green Archers basketball team came in full force to cheer on the Lady Spikers in their quest for a third straight UAAP women’s volleyball championship on Wednesday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Star Jeron Teng said the school's basketball team called off their regular practice on Wednesday just to be able to watch Game Two of the Finals between the Lady Spikers and Ateneo's Lady Eagles at the MOA Arena.
“Lahat ng members ng men’s basketball team, nandito to support them,” said Teng in a short chat with Spin.ph.
Teng and the Green Archers, along with the multitude of La Salle followers, weren't disappointed as the Lady Spikers beat the Lady Eagles in straight sets, 25-23, 25-20, 25-16, for a sweep of the best-of-three series.
Teng said the three-peat by the Lady Spikers will be one of the Green Archers’ inspiration when they bid for the coveted men’s title next season.
“Siyempre, gusto rin naming mag-champion,” Teng said. “Proud ako dahil fellow LaSallian ko. I’m really proud of them, from the players to the coaches.”
