SANDRA delos Santos has gone from being the Most Improved Player to the league's best player in a span of two conferences.

Reinforcing her status as one of the fastest-rising stars in the volleyball scene, delos Santos won the V-League Open Conference MVP award for her splendid play with the Cagayan Rising Suns.

Three other Rising Suns were rewarded with individual honors, with team captain Joy Cases named best server, libero Jeck-Jeck Dionela adjudged the best digger and Honey Royse Tubino honored with the best attacker trophy.

For the sixth time, Jeng Baulee became the best scorer while her Sandugo teammate Utaiwan Kaensing grabbed her second Best Blocker trophy.

Tina Salak, team captain of Philippine Army, got the Best Setter award and libero Angela Nunag was the best receiver.

Meanwhile, Ateneo nipped deposed champion Philippine Army, 25-21, 19-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-13, to move within a win of clinching third place on Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Alyssa Valdez, the First Conference Finals MVP, returned to the Lady Eagles roster and fired 22 points while Dzi Gervacio and Fille Cainglet had 18 each in the opener of their best-of-three series.

Both Valdez and Cainglet were not around during the deciding Game Two of Ateneo’s semifinal series against Cagayan Valley-Perpetual Help due to school obligations.
