ARELLANO University scored a win and made a graceful exit, while La Salle Dasmariñas came up with a decent performance in its final match on Thursday in a battle of also rans in the 10th Shakey's V-League First Conference at the Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Chiefs prevailed over the Lady Patriots, 25-22, 25-17, 26-28, 25-22, in a game that was tight throughout.
"Sabi ko sa mga players last game na natin to at least maganda ang exit natin," said Arellano coach Roberto Javier.
Guest players Nene Bautista and Mary Jean Balse carried the Lady Chiefs with 25 and 19 points, respectively, while Elaine Sagun had 15.
Arellano ended the conference with a 3-4 record.
"Malaking bagay yung dalawa (na guest players)," said Javier. "Sa first two sets lalo na si Balse, nagtatrabaho talaga sila ng husto. Lagi nila gina-guide ang mga setter at spiker, lagi sila nagbibigay ng
mga pointers."
Monique Tiangco and guest player Jennifer Manzano each came up with 14 markers apiece, while Iari Yongco and Mariebeth Lara added 10 each for the Lady Patriots.
