NU claims solo lead behind Santiago heroics

    Apr 14, 2013

DINDIN Santiago led National University in demolishing Adamson University, 16-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-15, and claim the solo lead in Group B of the 10th Shakey's V-League First Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Sunday.

Santiago finished with 20 points, built around 14 spikes, two blocks, and four service aces.

"Natutuwa ako sa pinapakita na performance (ni Dindin)," said NU coach Edjet Mabbayad. "Sana ituluy-tuloy niya lang at sana ano man ang ma-achieve niya naka-apak lang ang paa niya sa semento, be humble lang lagi, para mas madami pa siyang ma-achieve."

The Lady Bulldogs recovered from a sluggish start to yield the opening set before sweeping the next three.

Myla Pablo and guest player Jaja Santiago came in with a combined 26 points to provide added boost for NU, which hiked its record to 2-0.

"At least nakakatuwa kasi nakikita ko ang effort nila," said Mabbayad. "Gumagalaw as a team humahabol kahit saan bola di pinapabayaan."

    NU now has a 2-0 win-loss record.

Guest player Angela Benting top scored for Adamson with 15 markers, while team captain Pau Soriano added 11 as the Lady Falcons fell to second place in a tie with Arellano at 1-1.
