THREE-peat seeking La Salle secured a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals of the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament, eliminating Adamson, 25-21, 25-15, 22-25, 25-18, on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Graduating opposite spiker Kim Dy had 17 points and 10 digs for the Lady Spikers, who improved to 11-2 to cement their hold of the top spot.

“Ang goal namin ay one game at a time, so kung ano 'yung dumating na game sa amin, so paghandaan at saka, siyempre goal namin manalo,” said La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus.

The Lady Falcons suffered their eighth loss in 13 outings, out of the semis picture with one match to play.

Idle National University (7-6) takes the last spot in the Final Four with one match to spare.

La Salle will face Ateneo on Sunday, with the Lady Eagles hoping to get the twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four.

An Ateneo win over La Salle will give the Lady Eagles a 10-4 record. If Far Eastern University drops its last elims match, against National University, the Lady Tamaraws will end the eliminations with a 9-5 record, allowing the Lady Eagles to take the No. 2 spot.

A playoff will be held if Ateneo and FEU end up tied.

They have secured the top spot, but the final elimination-round match is still a must-win for De Jesus and the Lady Spikers.

“’Yung ganoong scenario kasi, hindi ko na (iniisip) although napag-uusapan namin, wala kaming ano. Basta kami, dumating 'yung game, maglalaro,” said De Jesus.

“So, kung no bearing or may bearing, basta importante, daanan namin ang second round na sana mas magandang record, win-loss. No loss in the second round,” he added.

Des Cheng also had 13 points for La Salle, skipper Majoy Baron added 11, while May Luna chipped in nine.
