THREE-peat seeking La Salle defeated University of the Philippines, 25-15, 25-19, 25-19, to take the solo lead in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Kim Dy and Desiree Cheng had 14 points apiece as the Lady Spikers copped its third straight victory for a 7-2 win-loss card.

Idle National University holds a 6-2 card.

“Maganda ’yung kinikilos ng team so magandang sign. Isa sa mga targets namin ay mag No. 1 or 2. Medyo maganda ang position namin ngayon so hopefully magtuluy-tuloy,” said La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus.

    The Lady Spikers hit 15 service aces, with Dy delivering five and Cheng four in the one-hour, 19–minute match.

    “After ng game namin sa NU, nakita ko kaya namang maglakas ng serve or kaya naman makakuha ng ace, sabi ko gawin namin sa UP to, nag-work naman sa iba,” said De Jesus.

    Tin Tiamzon and Aduke Ogunsanya combined for 17 points for La Salle, while setter Michelle Cobb had 30 of the team’s 33 excellent sets.

    Skipper Tots Carlos had 16 points and 11 digs, while Isa Molde added 10 for UP, in sixth spot at 3-6.
