LA Salle setter Michelle Cobb draws courage and inspiration from Kim Fajardo as she steps into the playmaker role for the Lady Spikers in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball season.
The 18-year old recruit from St. Scholastica’s College admitted that self-doubt is inescapable as she prepares to fill the void left by the three-time UAAP best setter.
“Ang dami talagang (nagsasabi) 'Uy, grabe, kaya mo ba?’” shared Cobb.
But Fajardo’s words have become a source of inspiration.
“Kasi every time na may sinasabi ako sa kanya, sinasabi niya na, 'I've been there, I’ve done that’” said Cobb. “So sabi ko, okay, normal itong nararamdaman ko, itong mga hardships.”
Cobb will be under the microscope beginning on Saturday when La Salle starts its bid for a treble in a game against University of Santo Tomas at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Cobb stressed that one thing she has realized is that pressure will always be part of the game.
“Given the legacy that Ate Kim left, parang it comes with a lot of expectations,” she said. “I feel like normal 'yung pressure.”
