LA SALLE downed archrival Ateneo, 25-16, 25-20, 25-16, on Sunday to remain unbeaten in the 76th UAAP women's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Mika Reyes had 13 points, from seven spikes and six blocks, while Ara Galang added 10 for the Lady Spikers.
The Taft-based squad, which has not yielded a single set in the tournament, made short work of the Lady Eagles as it only needed an hour and 16 minutes to complete the win in front of a crowd of 12,763.
"Hindi naman namin iniisip kung three sets, kung undefeated, kung ano ang outcome, masaya na kami basta panalo kami," said La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus.
"Hindi namin in-expect na three sets," he added. "Every game naman ang goal ay manalo. Hindi ko alam kung ilang sets, basta panalo."
The three-time defending champions extended their winning streak to 22 dating back to last year, with its lone loss coming at the hands of University of Santo Tomas in the opener of Season 75.
"Wala namang perfect game talaga," said de Jesus, whose wards gave away a series of miscues at the start of the match. "Ok lang 'yun kasi meron pa room for improvement sa game ng mga bata."
It was the first time La Salle and Ateneo faced off since the title series last year, and De Jesus noted that his team was a little shaky at first.
"After March last year kasi wala kaming alam kung anong team ang Ateneo," said de Jesus.
League top scorer and Ateneo team captain Alyssa Valdez was limited to only 11 points. A Ahomiro and Marge Tejada added eight and six markers, respectively.
The Lady Eagles dropped to third spot with a 5-2 win-loss card.
