LA Salle coach Ramil de Jesus returned the favor to University of the Philippines mentor Jerry Yee in wishing the Lady Maroons the best of luck against the Lady Spikers' back-to-back Finals tormentor Ateneo on Saturday at the MOA Arena.
Yee prayed and hoped that the Lady Spikers win their final match against National U in the elimination so that the Lady Maroons would avoid a playoff against the Lady Bulldogs. The win by La Salle handed UP the last Final Four spot and shoved NU out of the semis picture.
“Good luck, good luck sa kanila,” said the eight-time UAAP champion coach.
“Ginawa namin ang magagawa namin para makatulong sa kanila,” he added.
Incidentally, it was UP and La Salle that put a blemish on Ateneo’s record this season. The Lady Eagles, however, finished on top with a 12-2 win-loss record at the end of elimination.
Meanwhile, No. 2 La Salle will face third-seeded Far Eastern University in their own Final Four series on Sunday.
If the Lady Spikers, who are armed with a twice-to-beat advantage, win the match and if the Lady Maroons will pull off an upset and defeat the Lady Eagles twice in the semifinals, La Salle and UP might not end up wishing each other luck anymore.
