WHAT was expected to be a tight battle turned out to be short work for La Salle as it downed National University, 25-8, 25-22, 25-19, on Wednesday to claim the solo lead in the 76th UAAP women's volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

The three-time defending champions won their third match in as many outings, while NU slipped to joint second with FEU with a 2-1 win-loss record.
La Salle outplayed National U as it registered seven service aces against four and scored on 12 blocks to the five by the Lady Bulldogs.
Dindin Santiago scored 12 for the Lady Bulldogs, while Ivy Perez had 10.
