BINAN, Laguna - Korean star Kim Yeon Koung felt like she never left home as Filipino fans of all ages made her feel welcome in her brief stay in the Philippines.
KYK is in the country for the 19th AVC Asian Senior Women's Volleyball, and although Korea only settled for the third place, she felt no reason to be sad especially with the fans' reception.
"I didn’t expect that there’s so much people supporting me here in the Philippines and when I came here I’m really surprised that a lot of people are supporting me and they know me and I was really (feeling) great to be here and thankful for the Filipino fans," said KYK.
"Thank you so much to the Filipino fans, when I play here (it feels) like I’m playing at home," she added.
After the battle for third match, where Korea defeated China, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23, on Thursday at Alonte Sports Arena, a cute little boy approached her with a bouquet of flowers.
The kid's gesture melted the Asian superstar's heart.
"I saw him before the game and he was like giving this (bouquet of flowers) to me and I was like, 'After the game, after the game.' He then came to me and he was so cute and my heart was so much thankful," said KYK.
