KIM Fajardo remained undecided on whether to play for La Salle for a fifth season, days after helping the Lady Spikers reclaim the UAAP women’s volleyball championship against rival Ateneo in Season 78.

Fajardo has played four years with the La Salle in the UAAP, but the Season 78’s best setter is still eligible to play for a fifth and final year with the Lady Spikers next year.

When asked what is keeping her from staying with the Lady Spikers, Fajardo gave a straight-forward answer.

“Family matters,” said Fajardo, without elaborating, during Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum where the newly crowned UAAP champions were the main guests.

Fajardo was among the brightest stars in the Lady Spikers’ run to the title in Season 78, where they claimed Game Three of the finals with a four-set win over two-time champion Ateneo.

With Ara Galang, Mika Reyes, and Cyd Demecillo graduating, the decision of Fajardo will be crucial for La Salle's title-retention campaign next year.

Fajardo should be ideal as the leader of a new-look Lady Spikers team that will now rely heavily on Finals MVP Kim Dy, Mary Joy Baron, and star libero Dawn Macandili.

Although undecided, the 22-year-old Fajardo admitted it will be difficult for her to leave the Lady Spikers.

“Siyempre ‘yung love ko sa kanila,” said the former University of Santo Tomas high school star, when asked what will made her stay with La Salle. “Ayoko rin silang iwan.”
