LA Salle’s Kim Dy has been given the green light by her professors at La Salle to miss classes and join the national team training in Japan from July 17 to August 2.
"I talked to my professors naman and they were very considerate. Like, of course, I can give you considerations because it's for the Philippine team," said Dy, a Business Management major.
Dy was picked to replace Rachel Anne Daquis, who withdrew last week.
"So when I get back, that's when I'm taking my missed exams," Dy said.
The national team will see action in the Asian Senior Women's Volleyball Championship from August 9 to 17 and the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur from August 19 to 31.
Dy will join her La Salle teammate Dawn Macandili, former Lady Spikers Mika Reyes, Aby Maraño and Kim Fajardo along with Alyssa Valdez, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Jaja Santiago, Ces Molina, Maika Ortiz, Rhea Dimaculangan, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Gen Casugod and Denden Lazaro.
Dy, who has won two UAAP titles with La Salle and one Super Liga crown with F2 Logistics, will be playing for the Philippine team for the first time and admits feeling nervous.
"Kasi now parang kinakabahan pa ako na 'shocks, kasama ako sa team' so parang you have to show something," she said. "That's what I'm feeling now so hopefully I overcome this."
