ATENEO star Kiefer Ravena played a supportive ‘brother’ to San Sebastian ace spiker Gretcel Soltones, who carried the fight for the Lady Stags in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament.
Ravena showed up at The Arena in San Juan with mother Mozzy and younger sister Dani on Friday to cheer for Soltones and SSC coach Roger Gorayeb, who are both close to the family.
Gorayeb was also a former coach of Ateneo and used to coach Ravena's girlfriend Alyssa Valdez.
“Support namin si Gretcel, she’s part of our 'family,' [and our] support rin kay coach Roger of course nandyan, ‘yun lang,” the UAAP men’s basketball back-to-back MVP told Spin.ph.
“Bonding na rin kami ng mom and sister ko,” he added.
The Ravena family, however, didn't get the result they desired as Soltones and the Lady Stags lost to College of St. Benilde, which moved a win away from wrapping up a first league championship.
While he's played out his eligibility in UAAP basketball, Ravena is still eligible to play for the Ateneo men’s volleyball team. He previously bared plans to try out for the team - something he hasn't ruled out yet.
“Preview rin ng UAAP volleyball I guess,” he said. “Syempre kasi naglalaro rin ako ng volleyball.”
