UNIVERSITY of the Philippines introduced Kenyan coach Godfrey Okumu as the man who takes over Jerry Yee at the helm of the Lady Maroons for the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament, which starts late January or early February next year.

The UP management made the announcement on Saturday although SPIN.ph already saw the foreign mentor leading the team’s practice but waited for the formal statement from the university.

The new UAAP season is just around the corner but Okumu is not new to the team as he already trained with the Lady Maroons alongside with former UP coach Yee, who tendered his resignation last September.

Okumu will inherit a solid lineup led by Diana Carlos, Isa Molde, Justine Dorog and Ayel Estrañero as they seek to improve the Lady Maroons' sixth place finish last season and return to the Final Four.
