UNIVERSITY of the Philippines ace blocker Kathy Bersola is feared to have suffered an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tear in his knee after a bad fall during the Lady Maroons' match against Adamson on Wednesday.

Bersola, the league's reigning best blocker, landed awkwardly after a spike was blocked by Adamson’s Amanda Villanueva late in the fourth set of the Lady Maroons' 22-25, 25-21, 29-27, 34-32 victory in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Her knee appeared to buckle during the landing. She was taken out of the court on a stretcher and immediately taken to the St. Luke's Hospital in Taguig City for examination.

“She’s now at St. Luke’s in Taguig and parang ACL daw according to the UP alumni na nag-asikaso,” said UP coach Gerry Yee.

Yee also said that Bersola is getting medical attention from Dr. George Canlas, a specialist in orthopedic surgery.

Despite the early exit, Bersola still managed to post 13 points for the Lady Maroons, who are now in sixth spot with a 3-4 (win-loss) record.

She is currently in the seventh spot in the scoring race with a total of 84 points and fifth in the blocking department with 18 successful blocks.
