JHOANA Maraguinot is all set to see action for Ateneo against La Salle on Saturday after being rested during the match against also-ran University of the East.

Coach Tai Bundit dmissed talk that Maraguinot is injured after holding out the Ateneo top hitter while giving other stars some rest by fielding seldom used Ponggay Gaston, Jules Samonte, Ana Gopico and Jamie Lavitoria.

Even without Maraguinot, who averages 12.1 points per match, the Lady Eagles dominated the Lady Warriors.

“I’m ready to play, yesterday pa lang sinabihan na niya (Bundit) ako na ‘di ako maglalaro. Ok lang,” said Maraguinot.

“I guess I’m playing naman, ok naman talaga ako, rest lang talaga today,” she said.

The Lady Eagles and Lady Spikers, joint leaders with 12-2 records, battle for the No. 1 seeding in the Final Four of the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday at the MOA Arena.

“Si Coach Tai kasi ang nag-decide doon. Actually, pwede naman siya maglaro, pero nag-decide si Coach Tai na pagpahingahin muna,” said Ateneo assistant coach Sherwin Meneses.
