BALIPURE secured the last semis spot in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference with a 25-21, 25-16, 25-23 win over Pocari Sweat on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
The Water Defenders scored their fourth win in seven matches and eliminated BanKo-Perlas, which earlier bowed to unbeaten Creamline.
Jerriii Malabanan scored 14 points, Grethcel Soltones added 11 and Risa Sato chipped in 10 for the Water Defenders, who needed an hour and 17 minutes to beat the Lady Warriors.
“Maganda nilaro ng mga bata ngayon, ’yun dapat nilalaro namin dati pa kaya nagpapasalamat tayo,” said BaliPure coach Roger Gorayeb.
BaliPure arranged a best-of-three semifinal series against Creamline with the opening match set on Saturday.
“Best effort kami niyan going to the top four, malaking bagay samin siguro itong linggo na ‘to,” said Gorayeb.
Myla Pablo and Jeanette Panaga each had 10 points for Pocari Sweat, which slid to 5-2, but still remained at the No. 2 spot and will face third seed Air Force.
