OITA Miyoshi officially announced its acquisition of Bryan Bagunas as Asian foreign player for the new season of Japan V. League.
The Weisse Adler welcomed the National University star by announcing it on their official Twitter account on Thursday.
“Notice of joining Asian slot foreign players! We are pleased to announce that BRYAN BAGUNAS has joined the group as a foreign player in Asia,” posted on Oita Miyoshi’s twitter translated in English.
A member of Oita Miyoshi already expressed his excitement on teaming up with Bagunas.
“This season's Asian import is Bryan. Marck was a genius skilled player, but Bryan is a [monster] in one word,” he posted with an erupting volcano emoji. “If you look at his play, I think you will understand what I am saying.”
Japan V.League kicks off late October, while Bagunas is expected to fly to Japan by September.
Bagunas will be the second Filipino spiker to play for Oita Miyoshi as five-time UAAP MVP Marck Espejo was last season’s Asian import for Weisse Adler.
The ex-Ateneo star turned heads in his stint last season showing his scoring prowess and helped Oita Miyoshi in finishing with just four wins in 27 games.
The reigning UAAP MVP, who steered NU to back-to-back championships, already down played the comparison to his national teammate Espejo as he promised to focus on his own career.
While waiting for his time to return to Japan, Bagunas will finish Go for Gold-Air Force’s stint in the Spikers’ Turf Reinforced Conference and continue his training with the national team as he already to return in the 30th Southeast Asian Games, if it pushes through on November and December.
