THE Philippine Under-23 women’s volleyball team got schooled by Japan’s Okayama Seagulls, 9-25, 12-25, 4-25, in Group A of the 2019 Thailand Open Sealect Tuna Volleyball Championships on Friday night.
The Japanese powerhouse club team dominated the players under 23 years old of age in the national pool and was particularly ruthless in the close-out third set, limiting the Filipinas to four points.
Team captain Celine Domingo and the youth squad, composed mostly of college role players and high school volleybelles, fell on the brink of elimination ahead of its next outing in Pool A on Saturday.
The Kungfu Reyes-coach squad will fight for dear life against Alyssa Valdez’s former club team in Thailand, 3BB Nakornnont, at 5 pm (Philippine time).
