BIÑAN CITY - NEC Red Rockets of Japan booked a place in the semifinal after it disposed of T. Grand of Chinese Taipei, 25-6, 25-23, 25-13, in the knockout quarterfinals of the 2016 AVC Asian Women’s Club Championship on Friday at the Alonte Sports Arena.
Sarina Koga led the attack with 19 points, anchored on 14 kills, while Kana Ono added 12 for NEC Red Rockets, who will face the winner of the match between defending champion Thailand and Thongtin Lien Viet Post Bank of Vietnam in the Final Four on Saturday.
Japan dominated the match with 43 kills compared to Chinese Taipei's 22 attacks and registered more service aces (10-4).
Team captain Akari Oumi, Nami Sagawa and Mizuki Yanagita finished with seven points each for Japan.
Skipper Ya-Hui Chiu had eight points while Ching-Hsuan Huang scored seven markers for Chinese Taipei, which was relegated to the classification phase for 5th to 8th spot.
