NATIONAL University is off to a good start in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference, beating Lyceum of the Philippines University, 25-17, 25-16, 25-21, on Monday at The Arena in San Juan.

Skipper Jaja Santiago and Risa Sato led NU with 11 points apiece, while Jorelle Singh added eight markers.

The Lady Bulldogs are on a three-way tie with Ateneo and Far Eastern University with a 1-0 win-loss record in Group A.

“It feels good, of course, but more than that, gustung-gusto ko the way we worked together today,” said Babes Castillo, who called the shots for NU for the first time after replacing Roger Gorayeb.

“I appreciate the win but again hindi pa rin’yun ang gusto namin. What’s good about it ay mayroong working system na,” he added.

Setter Jasmine Nabor had six points and all but one of the team’s 28 excellent sets, while senior high standout Princess Robles, who hailed from Iloilo, also had six markers for NU, which dominated the match in attacks (41-28).

Rocelyn Hongria made eight points for LPU, which dropped its first game tied with San Sebastian College and Jose Rizal University.
