JAJA Santiago was surprised to know that she was the MVP for the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament.
The outgoing National University star said on Tuesday that her MVP bet was Far Eastern University spiker Bernadeth Pons.
Santiago, who led Foton to a third place finish in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix, deflected the credit and explained why she thought that Pons deserved the top honor.
While Pons did not receive any individual award, in Santiago’s book she’s the real MVP.
“Oo akala ko si Pons talaga ‘yung magiging MVP,” she said.
Pons will try to save FEU and extend the best-of-three Finals series against treble-seeking La Salle on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Santiago credited her teammates for her individual award.
“Unang-una sa lahat syempre it’s a great honor na maging MVP ako,” she said.
