STREAKING National University got an extra boost in confidence with the big win over University of Sto. Tomas, and skipper Jaja Santiago says there is no slowing them down.
It was a payback of sorts for the Lady Bulldogs, who were pushed out of the semis race last season by the Tigresses. But Santiago stressed that they are more focused on the future than the past.
“Syempre masaya kasi na-gain ulit namin ang composure ng bawat isa and ito na rin kasi ang isa naming panghahawakan na natalo namin sila why not hindi pa namin ulit magawa,” said Santiago.
The 6-foot-5 Santiago added the Lady Bulldogs are hungry for more wins.
“Motivation namin na nangyayari sa amin last seasons so kahit na nananalo kami hindi kami mag slow down kailangan go hard pa rin kami,” she said.
“Nakikita ko naman sa mga teammates ko na kunwari may training kinabukasan, kahit malayo pa ’yung game, nakikita ko sa kanila na hindi tayo pwedeng magpahinga,” she added.
“Kailangan i-push natin ’to, hindi tayo pwedeng magrelax (kasi) we’ll never know kung ano ’yung pwedeng mangyari sa atin,” she continued.
NU faces Far Eastern University on Wednesday and University of the Philippines on March 4 in their final match of the first round.
