NATIONAL University stayed unscathed as it handed Far Eastern University its first loss, 22-25, 28-26, 29-27, 25-22, in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

NU skipper Jaja Santiago had 26 points on 22 attacks, one block and three service aces as the Lady Bulldogs scored their third straight win for the solo lead in Group A.

The Lady Bulldogs earned praise from Babes Castillo after what she thought were unimpressive wins over Lyceum and San Sebastian College.

“FEU is a very systematic and strong team so talagang we’re expecting a good fight. Sabi ko nga sa mga bata let’s brace for a storm kasi storm ang FEU, malakas ‘yan,” said Castillo.

“But kanina I’m so happy because we not only won the game but lumabas ang systema so I like their work, nag-enjoy ako,” he added.

The Lady Tamaraws trimmed a six-point deficit to just one, 20-19, before NU recovered with a 6-2 run capped by an Aiko Urdas hit to seal the win.

“We’re trying to to a system in the past two weeks so talagang struggle kami,” said Castillo.

Urdas tallied 15 points for NU, Jorelle Singh chipped in nine, while Audrey Paran and Risa Sato each had seven markers.
