ATENEO welcomes back a familiar face in its team as it tries to get back to its winning ways in the 76th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Thai head coach Anusorn Bundit will call the shots again for the Lady Eagles when they take on Adamson on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Team manager Tony Boy Liao confirmed Bundit arrived in the country on Friday morning after more than a month of absence due to his coaching job with the Thailand women's national training pool.
Bundit’s return came at a time when the Lady Eagles are still reeling from a 17-25, 17-25, 25-23, 19-25 loss to the National University Lady Bulldogs on Sunday.
The Lady Eagles have lost three games in Bundit's absence, including two to rival De La Salle.
Meanwhile, defending champion La Salle guns for an 11th straight win when it battles lowly University of the Philippines in the curtain raiser at 2 p.m.
Alyssa Valdez and A Ahomiro are again expected to carry the load for the Lady Eagles, who are at far third in the standings with 6-4 record, next to NU (8-1) and La Salle (10-0).
Adamson, just a game behind Ateneo at 5-5, will rely on Bhebs Pineda, Amanda Villanueva, and Mayeth Zapanta.
La Salle will go to its game against the Lady Maroons fresh from dropping a set for the first time this season during its game against Far Eastern University.
La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus, who bagged his 200th win with the Taft-based squad on Wednesday, said the Lady Spikers are definitely not taking the Lady Maroons lightly.
"Ganoon pa rin, paghahandaan pa rin namin ang UP," he said.
Aby Maraño, Mika Reyes, Cyd Demecillo, Ara Galang, and Kim Fajardo will take care of business for the league leader against the Lady Maroons (1-9).
