ALAS Pilipinas Men suffered a stinging defeat at the hands of Indonesia, 19-25, 25-19, 25-21, 22-25, 8-15, to open Leg 2 of the 2025 SEA V.League on Wednesday in Jakarta.
The Indonesians asserted their dominance just three days since their straight-sets rout of Alas Men in Candon City for the silver medal in the opening leg.
Alas blows lead
The nationals held a two sets to one lead after bucking a slow start to the opening frame.
Fueled by an energized home crowd, Indonesia charged back into contention by forcing a fifth-set tiebreak.
A blazing 5-0 Indonesia start was one that the Philippines failed to overcome as most of Alas’ points in Set 5 came off the hosts’ unforced errors.
Alas’ one-two National U punch in Jade Disquitado and Leg 1 best opposite hitter Leo Ordiales paced the loss with 20 and 16 points, respectively.
Louie Ramirez also made the most of his return to action with 12 markers.
