DEFENDING champion De La Salle tries to avenge its lone loss of the season when it takes on University of Santo Tomas in the 75th UAAP women's volleyball tournament on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Archers have won seven straight games after bowing to the Tigresses, 22-25, 13-25, 25-12, 25-21, 9-15, and they will try to continue their winning streak in the 3:30 p.m. faceoff.
“Hindi maganda ang result ng aming first-round meeting kaya pipilitin naming makabawi sa UST,” said La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus.
“Kasi ngayon nasa UAAP mode na ang isip ng mga bata. Kasi noong first game sila, parang bakasyon mode pa sila,” he added.
UST, gunning for a sixth win in nine games, will bank on veterans Judy Caballejo and Maru Banaticla, and sophomores Pam Lastimosa and Carmela Tunay.
Far Eastern University also hopes to continue its four-game winning run when it takes on the University of the Philippines at 2 p.m.
The Lady Tamaraws, who have won three consecutive games after returning coach Kid Santos took over from Nes Pamilar, will again lean on Rosemarie Vargas, Marjorie Roxas, Marie Toni Basas, and Wenneth Eulalio.
UP holds a 1-8 win-loss card.
