PRESIDENTIAL Spokesperson Harry Roque said the likelihood of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) holding their bubble in Subic depends on two conditions set by the government for the staging of their respective bubble tournaments.

Roque on Friday said that the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has tackled the request of both the MPBL and the PSL to stage bubble tournaments in Subic.

Two conditions need to be met before the two leagues gain IATF approval, he added.

The two leagues are seeking the IATF greenlight despite maintaining their amateur status.

The MPBL is planning to hold a bubble in Subic for the continuation of its division finals to determine the champion of the Lakan Season. San Juan and Makati battle in the deciding Game Three of the North finals, while Davao Occidental and Basilan play in a similar do-or-die game in the South finals.

The PSL, meanwhile, is looking to stage a beach volleyball bubble in Subic.

Roque admitted the DOH still needs to set guidelines for the amateur leagues as only professional tournaments are being allowed by the government at this time through the supervision of the Games and Amusement Board (GAB).

The GAB has taken a hands-off approach on the MPBL’s bid to stage a bubble since the amateur league owned and run by Senator Manny Pacquiao is not under its jurisdiction.
