UNIVERSITY of the East proved no match against NCAA reigning champion Emilio Aguinaldo College as the Generals hacked out a 25-15, 25-22, 25-21 win in the Spikers’ Turf Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Wednesday.
It was the first win for the Generals, who are tied with National University and College of Business Arts on top of Group A.
Howard Mojica poured in 17 points for EAC, while Kerth Melliza and Isarel Encina combined for 23 points.
EAC pounded on UE with 41 spikes and likewise had better attacks from the service line.
UAAP Rookie of the Year Edward Camposano led the Red Warriors with 13 points, but not enough to prevent the team from losing its opening game.
