NCAA champion Emilio Aguinaldo College demolished National College of Business and the Arts, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23, on Monday to remain undefeated in the Spikers' Turf Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Howard Mojica, the NCAA Most Valuable Player, scored 24 points including 15 of team's 32 total spikes. The lanky spiker also had three blocks and scored seven points from the service line.
"Hindi naman namin ini-aim kaagad yung sweep. Ang aim lang naman namin manalo lang muna. Nagkakaroon lang siguro yung mga bata na yung lakas, sipag at willingness nilang manalo ay napupunta doon kaya siguro straight sets," said EAC coach Rodrigo Palmero.
NCBA dropped to 2-2 at the end of eliminations.
Meanwhile, La Salle advanced to the quarterfinals as it turned back College of St. Benilde, 25-18, 25-19, 17-25, 25-15.
Raymark Woo fired 16 points, including 12 spikes, while John Arjay Onia scattered 15 markers on 13 hits, for La Salle.
The Green Archers, who lost to arch rival Ateneo in their first match, improved to a 3-1 card to join the Blue Eagles in the quarterfinals.
Ateneo is undefeated in three matches.
Mike Frey and guest player Geriant Bacon added nine points apiece for DLSU.
The Blazers fell to a 2-2 card and will need to win against Ateneo on August 12 to book a ticket to the quarterfinals.
CSB can also secure a spot in the next round if winless teams Arellano University and De La Salle-Dasmarinas drop one of their remaining two games.
Johnvic de Guzman led the Blazers with 20 points.
