PHILIPPINE Air Force finally broke into the win column of the Shakey’s V-League Season 10 Open Conference with a three-set win over Far Eastern University on Friday at The Arena in San Juan.
Jude Ann Caballejo and Joy Cases took charge with 12 and 10 points, respectively, in the Air Women’s 25-20, 25-21, 25-19 win over the Lady Tams that took just 78 minutes to complete.
It was the first win for Air Force after losing its first two matches in the tournament against Cagayan Valley ( 22-25, 25-17, 14-25, 19-25) and Philippine Army (13-25, 22-25, 18-25)
“'Yung first two games namin sobrang malalakas ang na kalaban,” admitted Air Force coach Clarence Esteban.
The Air Women finished with a total of 42 hits, scored on six blocks and four service aces. The team also registered 29 excellent digs compared to the 25 of FEU and had better reception, 37-24.
“Kaya (ngayon) lahat ng pagkukulang namin (sa past games) na-recover namin kasi medyo mabigat kinalaban namin sa first two games,” Esteban added.
The loss extended the Lady Tams' misery as they fell to a 0-3 record overall.
