BALIPURE erased a three-point deficit in the fourth and overcame Creamline, 26-24, 17-25, 25-23, 28-26, on Tuesday in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
UAAP rivals Risa Sato of National University and Jerilli Malabanan of Far Eastern University led the Water Defenders, scoring 16 and 15 points, respectively.
Former San Sebastian ace Grethcel Soltones added 12 and NU hitter Aiko Urdas chipped in 10 for BaliPure, which improved to 4-1.
The Water Defenders fought from 21-24 down to on a Soltones kill and a Sato quick attack before Alyssa Valdez’s attack error tied the match.
“One miss you die yun eh,” said BaliPure coach Roger Gorayeb, whose wards lead the match, 2-1.
“Ako naman may fifth set eh buti sana kung ang set na ‘yun kapag nanalo sila talo na kami, ‘yun ang mas mabigat para sa amin,” he added.
“Buti na lang gumana ang block, umayos ang set ni Jasmine (Nabor), si Sato ang mga quick. Nag-connect na sila ni Jas eh,” he said.
BaliPure took its fourth win in five matches, while dealing Creamline its fourth loss in six outings.
Valdez led all scorers with 27 points from 23 hits and four blocks, and had 16 digs in the two-hour and three-minute match.
Pau Soriano added 15 and San Beda College standout and NCAA Rookie of the Year Francesca Racraquin contributed 11 for the Cool Smashers.
