SAN Sebastian star Grethcel Soltones is uncertain to join the tryouts for the national team that will see action in the AVC Asian Seniors and the 29th Southeast Asian Games.
National women's team head coach Francis Vicente hinted in his previous interviews that it would be a big boost if Soltones will join the squad.
But the hard-hitting spiker from Catmon, Cebu said that her decision lies in her coach Roger Gorayeb’s go-signal whether she will show up for the January 28, 29 and 31 tryouts at the Arellano University gym at Taft Avenue.
Soltones and the rest of the SSC belles are currently leading the race for the elusive NCAA women’s volleyball title and the former team captain feels that Gorayeb wants her to focus on their mission.
Last year, SSC had a perfect run in the elimination round that earned them an outright Finals berth with a thrice-to-beat advantage only to fall prey on the hands of a title hungry College of St. Benilde.
“Apat na taon na po akong bigo pero sana this time, Lord, please this year na,” she said.
