GRETHCEL Soltones and Jasmine Nabor were tapped to play for the women’s national volleyball pool in the second leg of the ASEAN Grand Prix, which fires off on Friday at the Sta. Rosa Multipurpose Sports Complex in Laguna.
Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. president Joey Romasanta told SPIN.ph that Soltones and Nabor will fill in the big shoes of Kalei Mau and Alohi Robins-Hardy.
Mau is still recovering from a left achilles injury, while Robins-Hardy was suddenly ineligible in the tournament due to lack of Philippine passport.
Romasanta also bared that Premier Volleyball League players Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado, Maddie Madayag and Jovelyn Gonzaga got the clearance to play in the second leg of the inaugural tournament.
But Valdez and Morado of Creamline and Madayag of Choco Mucho will miss the national team’s Saturday game as they see action in PVL’s Ilo-Ilo City match, while Gonzaga got the green light from Pacifictown-Army to stay with the Filipina Spikers.
PLDT’s spiker-setter tandem will also join other pool members composed of team skipper Aby Marano, First leg’s Best Middle Blocker Majoy Baron, Mylene Paat, Roselyn Doria, Ces Molina, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Eya Laure, Dawn Macandili and Kath Arado.
