LITTLE did Petro Gazz import Gia Day know how she’d rediscover her love for volleyball in just a week of international play.

The 26-year-old American winger saved her best performance as an Angel for last with 35 points, 15 digs, and 10 receptions despite bowing out of the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League quarterfinals to China’s Beijing BAIC Motor.

In the aftermath of a hard-fought five-setter, an emotional Day looked back with regret on how her first Petro Gazz stint ended, but beamed with pride as she restored the joy that was once lost during her six-nation pro ball journey so far.

“I’m very angry right now because I think that the girls did really enough for us to win. I could have kept it up in the last sets, but I’m really proud of how everyone worked so hard,” said Day.

“It just brought tears to my eyes because the girls wanted it so bad and they had so much fun, this was like the most fun game I’ve ever played in, so I’m very thankful for them.

“Coming here, I wasn’t having fun playing volleyball. But with them, I had so much fun so I thank them very much for working hard.”

Come again another Day?

It was such a short turnaround for Day, having landed in the Philippines last Apr. 18 before playing three AVC matches that ended exactly a week later.

Moving forward, the reigning PVL champions have their sights set on making it two-for-two in terms of title runs in the 2025 season.

With the import-laden Reinforced Conference up next, will Day be open to coming back and playing a full campaign with the Angels?

That door is one she’s keeping wide open.

“For sure. The girls are so much fun, the culture is so fun. I know that this season’s a very weird time, the import season. But I hope one day, for sure to return,” Day said.

“It’s definitely in my future plans if they’ll have me.”
