COUNT former Ateneo star Fille Cainglet among the proudest of the accomplishment of the Lady Eagles.
Cainglet, a member of the Ateneo team that lost to La Salle in the championship series the past two years, said it wasn't a sense of regret but one of pride that filled her after the Lady Eagles won a first-ever league title.
The former Ateneo star said she was proudest of holdovers Alyssa Valdez and Denden Lazaro, two of her teammates in the Lady Eagles teams that came up short the past two years.
“Sobrang saya kasi parang time pa lang nila ni Ate Cha (Soriano), naghihintay na silang mag-champion. Sobrang proud ako sa kanila,” said Cainglet, who joined the celebration of the Lady Eagles inside the dugout.
“Nakakaiyak,” Cainglet added.
This year's Lady Eagles were actually a team in transition after Cainglet, Jem Ferrer, Gretchen Ho and a couple of key players from last year's team played out their eligibility.
Like Cainglet, Ferrer and Ho were also at the Mall of Asia Arena to support the Lady Eagles.
“Sobrang hirap ng pinagdaanan nila. I’m so proud of them,” said Cainglet, who was joined by husband and Rep. Lino Cayetano when she watched Game Four at the packed MOA Arena.
