POMI Casalmaggiore stunned erstwhile unbeaten Volero Zurich, 25-27 25-23, 25-17, 25-23, to arrange a Finals showdown with defending champion Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul in the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday.

Samanta Fabris led the way for the Italian team with 23 points, while Lucia Bosetti chipped in 16, skipper Valentina Tirozzi fired 12 and Jovana Stevanovic added 11.

“I was really, really proud with the match tonight and my team played well today because we reached the Finals,” said Tirozzi.

“And the way we won, it was very difficult to take the set back and win in four sets. We really deserved the match, the win and the Finals. We’ll see tomorrow what happens,” she added.

Olesia Rykhliuk and USA national team member Foluke Akinradewo each had 19 points for Volero Zurich.

The Swiss team will face VakifBank Istanbul for the battle for the third spot.
