With a triumph over Iran set to send the Philippines to the Round of 16 for the first time, no less than the national team itself pled its fans to back it up in its biggest game of the tournament yet.

“Thank you, Filipino fans. We need them. We need to support the team. That was very nice today with all the fans shouting. That was very nice, we needed it,” coach Angiolino Frigoni said.

“I said that there is one more player on the court, and please come by the game. I can’t promise that we’ll play like this, but I promise that we’ll do everything to play like today.”
