FAR Eastern University skipper Bernadeth Pons aimed higher after the Lady Tamaraws clinched another Final Four berth.
The graduating spiker doesn’t want to celebrate this early despite the Lady Tamaraws clinching the third semis seat in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament.
FEU joined early semifinalists La Salle and Ateneo after it overcame Adamson University, 25-22, 25-27, 14-25, 25-22, 15-11, on Saturday at the MOA Arena.
“Hindi, hindi talaga,” said Pons when asked if she’s satisfied in reaching the semis. “Lalong lalo na sakin kasi last year ko tapos last chance ko kasi never pa kami nakapasok ng Finals so eto na lang ‘yung last chance ko.”
But before making it to the Finals, FEU’s goal at hand is to get a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four.
At No. 3 with an 8-4 win-loss record, behind the Lady Spikers (9-2) and the Lady Eagles (9-4), the Lady Tamaraws are still on track to achieve it.
The Morayta-based squad needs to win its last two games in the elimination round against University of the East on April 11 and National University on April 15. And Pons urged the Lady Tams to keep focus on the task at hand.
“Palagi naman kami nireremind na ‘wag kami magfocus sa result, focus kami kung ano kailangan namin gawin,” she said.
“‘Yung result sa susunod na lang ‘yun, parang inspiration lang siya (Finals), motivation lang siya na ito ‘yung goal namin so kailangan makuha namin ’yun one set at a time,” Pons added.
