FORMER Far Eastern University coach Florentino 'Kid' Santos, one of the most successful volleyball coaches in the country, died on Wednesday morning due to cardiac arrest. He was 67.
Santos' son, Fritz Michael, confirmed the death of the former national coach who won several UAAP championships for FEU, both as a player and head coach.
He steered the women's volleyball team to 19 of its 29 UAAP championships and mentored some of today's top coaches like La Salle women's coach Ramil de Jesus, La Salle men's coach Nes Pamilar, FEU women's coach George Pascua and Petron coach Shaq delos Santos.
His remains lie at Funeraria Paz in Araneta Avenue, Quezon City. Interment details will be announced later.
