NATIONAL University overcame a sluggish start to beat La Salle, 27-29, 25-17, 25-21, 25-19, on Sunday in the UAAP Season 79 volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Fauzi Ismail scored 17, Bryan Bagunas had 16 points and James Natividad added 14 markers for NU.
The Bulldogs joined University of the Philippines and Far Eastern University in second spot with 3-1 win-loss records, behind unbeaten Ateneo (4-0).
NU dominated the match in attacks (52-38), blocks (11-2) and service aces (7-4).
Arjay Onia scored 12 points for La Salle, which suffered its third loss in four matches.
