    UST stretches win streak to three, deals UE fourth consecutive loss

    UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas annihilated the skidding University of the East, 25-18, 25-14, 25-20, on Sunday for its third straight win in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

    The Tigresses scored their fifth win in seven outings, while the Lady Red Warriors suffered their fourth straight loss for a 1-6 record.

    Sisi Rondina and Eya Laure combined for 27 of the Tigresses’ 45 attacks, while UE only had 26 total kills.

    Rondina had 17 points from 16 spikes, while making 10 excellent receptions and seven digs.

    Laure had 11 attacks, two blocks and two service aces for 15 points.

    Dimdim Pacres, Caitlyn Viray and KC Galdones had eight points each, while rookie MaFe Galanza dished out 14 excellent sets as UST took down UE in an hour and 26 minutes.

    “Napakaganda ng naging development ng team namin ngayon. Ang pangit lang ay nabawasan kami ng isang tao,” said UST head coach Kungfu Reyes referring to Milena Alessandrini, who suffered an ACL tear two weeks ago.

    “Sana ito na yung hinihintay namin. Magandang motivation ito pagpasok ng 2nd round,” he added.

    Judith Abil was the lone Lady Red Warrior in double figures with 15 points, while also making 14 excellent receptions and seven digs.

    Libero Kath Arado had 12 excellent receptions and 11 digs for UE.
