AIRASIA is expecting Michele Gumabao to rejoin the team’s practices this week, just days after the former De La Salle Lady Spiker was evicted from the reality television show 'Pinoy Big Brother.'
A team source told Spin.ph Gumabao, who AirAsia named to its Philippine Super Liga team even as she was preparing to join the hit ABS-CBN reality show, could practice as early as Wednesday.
But the team said they are giving Gumabao enough time to rest after spending several weeks living in a aquarium-type environment inside the so-called ‘Bahay ni Kuya.’
“Sa ngayon, nagpapahinga muna siya for a few days. Baka bukas or sa Thursday,” said the source, when asked when Gumabao would join the Flying Spikers.
AirAsia will not be seeing action in the Super Liga until July 5 against Petron in Cebu, which could give its comebacking star enough time to get back into match shape.
But as to whether Gumabao will already play against Petron, the team official said it will ultimately rest on AirAsia coach Ramil De Jesus’ decision.
“Depende pa kay coach kung makakalaro,” said the source.
The Flying Spikers are in fourth place in the All Filipino Conference with a 3-2 win-loss slate.
