CANDON CITY — What’s at stake in the first-ever Volleyball All-Star Showcase?
Well, pride, of course. And then a six-figure prize to sweeten the deal.
The two winning squads in the PVL and Spikers’ Turf All-Star Games will each take home P100,000 as part of the incentives rolled out, with even the losing sides assured of P50,000.

The cash rewards were announced by Candon City Mayor Eric Singson during a dinner with players, coaches, and officials at the Candon City Aquarium and Park on the eve of the midseason exhibition.
While the All-Star Games are traditionally treated as a celebration of the sport, the extra incentive is expected to raise the competitive stakes, with players given more reason to go all-out in front of the Ilocos Sur crowd.
From All-Star to global tournament
Also taking the floor during the same gathering was PNVF president Tony Boy Liao, who used the opportunity to rally the country’s top talents, particularly those included in the 27-woman Alas Pilipinas pool, to answer the national team call.

With the AVC Women’s Cup also set to be hosted in Candon next month, Liao stressed the importance of commitment and alignment, as the federation begins laying the groundwork for international competition.
A first meeting between the PNVF and the Alas pool is scheduled on Tuesday, when plans and goals for the year will be discussed, as the program ramps up preparations.
Action in the showcase kicks off Friday at the Candon City Arena, with Spikers’ Turf’s Team Power battling Team Passion at 3 p.m., followed by the PVL’s Team Heart squaring off against Team Hustle at 5:30 p.m.
