NATIONAL University recovered from an error-strewn opening set and overcame a tough Adamson University side, 26-28, 25-21, 30-28, 25-20, in the 76th UAAP women's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday.

Carmina Aganon fired 15 points and Jaja Santiago added 14 for the Lady Bulldogs, who scored their sixth win in seven outings.

Myla Pablo and Aiko Urdas had 13 points each, while Dindin Santiago came up with 12, for NU.

"Sa start, iba yung galaw ng mga bata - tight, kaya sinabi ko sa kanila na magrelax lang kasi masyado silang tight," said NU coach Edjet Mabbayad. "Sinundan pa ng maraming errors kaya sabi ko mag-enjoy lang."

After a tight third set, National University had a solid start in the fourth, broke away to put up a 20-14 lead, and never looked back.

NU was up by one block (10-9) but recorded no service ace compared to Adamson, which registered nine.

Shiela Pineda poured in 24 points, while Amanda Villanueva added 14 for Adamson, which is tied with Far Eastern University with a 3-3 win-loss record.
