ADAMSON heroine Ely Soyud was quick to deflect credit after her career game led the Lady Falcons to a soaring start in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference with a stunning win over University of the Philippines.
Soyud, who scored 23 attacks and four blocks, posted her career-high 27 points to lead Adamson past UP, 17-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 15-9, on Monday at The Arena in San Juan.
But the former La Salle opposite spiker, who transferred to Adamson last year, stressed that her breakout game was the result of her team’s grit and collective effort to come out on top.
“Lahat sa team nagtulung-tulong para manalo kami, hindi naman kami mananalo kung ako lang eh,” said Soyud, who scored three of Adamson’s last seven points of the match.
She was also the first one who was surprised with her scoring explosion. Soyud insisted that she was only rolling with the flow of the game as she took over to finish off the Lady Maroons.
“Hindi ko inexpect (na 27 points) gusto ko lang manalo kasi bawi na rin ba from last conference at syempre para mas tumaas ang morale ng team,” she said.
“Na-feel ko ang eagerness na kailangan nang tapusin, kailangan ko mag-step up para manalo kami pero team effort ‘yun,” she added.
